DEAF DISCO

This is something currently unavailable and came to our attention after meetings and discussions with The Calderdale Deaf Society who outlined some common issues faced by the deaf community these included: The lack of opportunity to socially mix with the hearing community at an event designed for both and the lack of opportunities to appreciate music.

Our project will meet these needs by running a monthly deaf disco evening at which we will rig a specific PA system to super-low sub base speakers, these speakers will omit sound so deep it is outside of the human range of hearing but will cause a sense of vibration within the body which of course will be in time with the music, the vibration can also be felt through feet as the floor will also 'buzz' to the base. Lights around the room will change in time with the music providing the tone visually and puffs of sweet smelling smoke will match the drum beat, others speakers will provide the sound for the hearing community. On stage a dancer will dance in time whilst signing the lyrics.
